The Philharmonic Series is built around Pearl's SR505 Triad Silent Strainer — three independently adjustable snare assemblies (coated cable, stainless cable, and wire) that can be engaged individually or blended on a single drum. Instead of committing to one snare voice, you dial in the exact combination a piece calls for, from a tight orchestral snap to a soft, blended wash, and shift between them without reaching for a different drum.

What size should I start with?

For your first Philharmonic snare, we recommend starting with a 14" x 5". It's the most versatile depth across the series, but if you're studying with a teacher, it's also worth checking whether they have a preferred size or setup in mind.

What drumhead comes with the drum?

Most Philharmonic snares ship with a Remo Diplomat Renaissance drumhead, giving you a warm, controlled feel and a great sound right out of the box — no head swap needed before your first rehearsal.

How long will my new drum take to arrive?

Most Philharmonic models are in stock and ship immediately. Some solid-shell configurations are hand-formed by Pearl's Music City Custom Shop and can take a few extra weeks to build, so factor that in if you're ordering for a specific date.
