The discs are sanded on the lathe to give them a rounded profile. These mallets function in much the same way as standard chammy covered mallets, but have a fuller, darker sound and also never need rewrapping. The large stick is great for lots of general playing when a big, articulate sound is needed. The small sticks (sold as a pair) are great for fast, athletic passages where maximum articulation is required.
