I give these mallets to my apartment dwelling students around the NYC area, because they live up to their namesake. They're super soft but still create a nice tone on the lower bars. Less definition on the higher bars (more of a "thunk"), but thinking soft mallets would produce much definition on high xylo bars is like asking for a miracle. Super sturdy and well made too. Highly recommend for people who want to practice xylophone and keep things quiet!
