Description
Parallel Passages for timpani and tape was composed by Tom Hamilton in the late 1970s. Many years later, Bachovich Music Publications discovered this underground classic- possibly the first piece to pair solo timpani with electronic sound – and finally made it available in published form. The pre-recorded backing music consists of a rich electronic soundscape, created with the ARP and Serge synthesizers of that era, and is newly remastered with a download link in the performance notes. This electronic environment supports a bold and expressive timpani solo of changing colors and moods. It is a very idiosyncratic and unusual piece to program, and a must for any collector of timpani literature.
