These have slightly shorter, thicker handles, that feel GREAT and cushion the hand nicely with big motions. They don't pull the balance point back like the upper two models because these heads are larger and heavier. They are clear and direct, but with a nice warm tone for the lower end of a marimba. They do not project very well outdoors in the top 2 octaves, but indoors they can play the full range if needed. The tone is warmer than you'd expect with a lot less "slap" than similar mallets. Octaves are possible but much more difficult than on longer handled mallets.
