McCarthy-WarHammer (CD)-M/CD

WarHammer is a solo 4-mallet marimba work with electronic track by Daniel McCarthy, published by C. Alan Publications. The piece builds on McCarthy's earlier explorations of marimba and electronics, but takes a different approach: rather than treating the marimba as a solo voice against an electronic backdrop, WarHammer merges the two into a single entity, challenging the listener to distinguish between the marimba and the electronics throughout. The work was written for Michael Burritt, Director of Percussion Studies at Northwestern University, and premiered by Shanon Wood at Interlochen in the summer of 1999.
