Mixed Motives by David J. Long for percussion septet. This piece begins with a free introduction with improvisational, expansive motives pass around the ensemble.

Player 1 - 4-octave marimba, 2 metal plates, water bucket, snare drum
Player 2 - xylophone, crash cymbals, bongos
Player 3 - chimes, vibraphone, temple blocks, bass drum
Player 4 - congas, 5 cymbals
Player 5 - 5 brake drums, 2 woodblocks
