Description
The Concerto for Marimba & Orchestra, Op. 148a was composed by Czech-American composer Tomas Svoboda (1939–2022) and commissioned by the Oregon Symphony for then principal percussionist Niel DePonte, who encouraged Svoboda to write the work and gave its premiere performance. The recording by DePonte with the Oregon Symphony under conductor James DePreist earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Instrumental Soloist Performance with Orchestra in 2003. This version includes the marimba solo part and piano reduction of the orchestra score.
