"Alternatives (720) is so named because there are 720 possible ways (or versions) of performing the music once through. The six pages may be played in any order. The only requirement is that no page be repeated until all six have been performed, and that if one is repeated all must be (preferably in a different order). The piece may be performed in this way as many times as desired. The pages should be arranged so that all are visible at one time. Choice of mallets at the performer's discretion."
